Daikoku PA vs Tatsumi PA: Which One Should You Visit?
Daikoku is the one you have heard of. Tatsumi is the one that is open when Daikoku is not. They are both on the Bayshore Route, both free, both tolerated-not-sanctioned meets. The differences matter if you have one night.

Daikoku PA
Yokohama · huge lot · 100–300+ cars at peak · every kind of car · 35 min from Shibuya · closes 4–8×/year
Tatsumi PA
Tokyo (Koto-ku) · small lot · 30–80 cars · more supercars and VIP sedans · 20 min from Shibuya · rarely closes
Size and atmosphere
Daikoku PA is a full-size service area under a three-level interchange. On a Saturday it feels like a festival — drift cars, kei cars, Lamborghinis, a Hiace full of teenagers, all in the same lot. Tatsumi PA is a narrow strip with a view of the Tokyo skyline. It is quieter, the cars are more expensive on average, and owners stand around and talk rather than cruise. If you want spectacle, Daikoku. If you want to see a Pagani and talk to its owner, Tatsumi has better odds.
Cars you will see
Daikoku
Everything. GT-R R32–R35, Supra, RX-7, Silvia, drift builds, VIP Crowns, supercars, kei cars, trucks
Tatsumi
Skewed premium. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, GT-R R35, high-end Mercedes and BMW. Fewer drift cars
Access
Tatsumi is 20 minutes from Shibuya and reachable from both directions on the Bayshore Route. Daikoku is 35 minutes and outbound-only — miss it and you loop back. Neither has a station or pedestrian entrance. Both need a car or a tour.
Police
Daikoku closes 4–8 times a year (long weekends, incidents). Tatsumi almost never closes — it is too small to draw the crowd that triggers closures. On most Daikoku closure weekends, Tatsumi stays open. This is why our tour uses Tatsumi as the fallback. See Police & Closures.
Our recommendation
First visit, one night: Daikoku. It is the one you will tell people about. Second visit, or a weeknight, or Daikoku is closed: Tatsumi. Enthusiasts who spend a week in Tokyo usually do both. Our standard tour goes to Daikoku; Tatsumi can be added or substituted on request.
