Why there is no train or bus
Daikoku PA sits on Daikoku Pier (大黒ふ頭), an industrial container terminal in Yokohama port. The parking area is physically inside the expressway interchange — on-ramps and off-ramps loop around it. There is no pedestrian gate, no sidewalk leading in, and the nearest railway station (Namamugi) is 3 km away across port roads with no footpath. People have tried walking in. It does not end well.
Option 1: Drive yourself
From central Tokyo, take the Shuto Expressway Bayshore Route (湾岸線) southbound. Daikoku PA is on the outbound (Yokohama-bound) side only — if you miss it, you must exit, turn around and re-enter. Tolls from Shibuya are roughly ¥1,500 each way. Rental cars in Japan require an International Driving Permit from a Geneva Convention country; many nationalities (including China, Brazil, Vietnam) cannot rent at all.
Option 2: Taxi
Possible but unreliable. The driver pays tolls both ways, waits while you walk the lot, and many will refuse. If one agrees, expect ¥12,000–18,000 round trip from Shibuya including waiting time. You will also arrive in a Toyota Crown taxi in a lot full of GT-Rs, which is not the entrance most people want.
Option 3: Tour (how most visitors without a car arrive)
A tour handles the car, the tolls, the timing and the return. Ours picks up in Shibuya at 20:00, crosses Rainbow Bridge, spends one hour at Daikoku PA from 21:00, and finishes at Tokyo Tower — in a real GT-R, Supra, Silvia or a van. ¥15,000–35,000 per person, no licence needed. Details on the Daikoku PA Tour page.
What to check before you go
Daikoku PA is closed to enthusiasts by police several times a year — long weekends, after viral incidents, and when crowds spill into the lanes. Check our Closure Rules page or message us on WhatsApp the day of. If it is closed, the nearest alternatives are Tatsumi PA (Tokyo side) and Umihotaru (Aqua-Line).
